Enid Oklahoma was established on 16 September 1893 when the Cherokee Outlet opened for settlement in the Land Run of 1893. With 6 million acres up for grabs, an estimated 100,000 people turned up to stake a claim to one of 40,000 homesteads in the largest land run in Oklahoma history.The original land office still stands as part of the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center.
Enid is named for a character in Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s epic poem Idylls of the King.
When oil was discovered in the 1910s, Enid entered an era pf prosperity that lasted until the middle of the 20th century.

Gadsden Alabama can be reached by car via interstate highway I-59 from either Birmingham, Alabama to the west or Chattanooga, Tennessee to the east. It is also only 55 miles from Huntsville, Alabama via US Route 431. From Atlanta, Georgia, take I-20 west to US Route 431 north.
By Bus
Gadsden is served by Greyhound Bus Lines.
By Air
Gadsden is served by the Northeast Alabama Regional Airport (GAD), formerly Gadsden Municipal Airport, which offers flight services for private aircrafts. There are no scheduled commercial flights at this time.
The closest commercial service is to Birmingham (BHM).
Gadsden operates a convenient to use “trolley service” on four routes around the city. These are not actual trolley cars, but shuttle buses.
